Hopefully I’ll get some pages up for you guys soon – for now, please check out my other comic, Kindling! It’s paid work (which is AWESOME), and Book 1 is more than halfway through (Book 1 wraps up in July). I work super hard on it- new pages come out every Tuesday! Volume 2 of Macchina is still in the works. Since my time has been so limited (been working full time), I’ve been mostly re-scripting Macchina. I’m really happy with how it’s coming out. I hope to be able to share it with you in the months and years to come!

Also, you might be wondering… “Pencils, Dech?? What the hell??” Well umm… between shoulder bursitis, Kindling, buying a house, and getting married, I haven’t had a lot of time to work on Macchina. In fact, yesterday was the first time in over a month I even got to sit down and draw a page. After querying on Twitter, I decided I would much rather tell the rest of this chapter faster than drag on to whenever I would have time to ink – so I decided to just post the pencils for the remainder of the chapter (8 pages). The pages will be inked (and most likely colored!!) for the print version of Volume 2 (chapters 6-8) which I’ll be working on completing in 2013, hopefully for the Toronto Comic Arts Festival.

So.. uhh, yeah. Life’s been crazy.

Ahhhhh man, finishing this page was like pulling teeth!! But it’s done! 9 more pages until the end of the chapter – I’m pretty excited! <3

Conventions are OVER for the year, yessss!! And with Chapter 8 complete in a couple weeks, I can compile Volume 2 of Macchina (chapters 6 through for debut most likely around TCAF. Volume 1 was first released in 2009, so it’s kind of a big deal for me to finally get another Macchina book out! Also, I’m going back to traditional inking with Chapter 9. I’ve learned a lot working on Kindling these past few months, and I want to put that knowledge to use with Macchina! <3

Also, need to relearn to draw my characters – my style has been evolving since chapter 7 ended, so I’ve got to get used to them again before picking up Chapter 9 so it remains consistent (something I’ve had a hard time with, since it’s taken me so long to draw a chapter).

Also, if you are new or do not already know, earlier this year I scored a ~*PAID*~ comic contract to draw Kindling, a post-apocalyptic webcomic I’ve been updating every Tuesday. Since paid work comes first, I’ve been kind of (a lot) behind on my Macchina updates. Kindling is now updating as spreads (2 pages a week) until Book 1 ends next June, which doesn’t leave me too much time for Macchina (ideally, I was supposed to have wrapped up chapter 8 BEFORE double updates started, but we see how that worked out…). There are 10 pages left until the end of this chapter, and I’m going to work super hard to get them for you guys as my time allows! I love Macchina with all my little heart, and have no intention of ever leaving you guys high and dry! <3 It's my baby, and you will have to pry it out of my cold, dead hands.

The game plan is to finish Chapter 8 ASAP and then take some time to BREATH, finish editing my manuscript which is in DIRE need of edits (i wrote it in 2007... I'm up to chapter 13 in rewrites) and.. COMPILE VOLUME 2!!! which is chapters 6-8. Chapter 9 will start in 2013 (actual date TBD).

For now, please please check out Kindling! I work very hard on it, and it’s what’s going to buy me a new computer in October/November so I can start livestreaming again and be able to color these chapters for print. You have no idea how much it means to me to be able to make enough money on comics to have been able to drop Fridays at my day job. One step closer to full time freelance! <3
