Since I started drawing Macchina in 2007, I’ve been holding onto my original comic boards. I started out drawing Macchina on 11 x 17 Blue Line Pro comic boards. Mid Chapter 6 I stopped inking by hand, switching to digital (Manga Studio) and by the first part of Chapter 7, I switched to drawing my pencils on 8.5 x 11 xerox paper.

I have four huge portfolios of comic pages that have been languishing in my storage trunk in the basement for years. I’ve been meaning to sell them for a while now, but rescanning all these pages proved to be a MONUMENTAL task! BUT IT’S FINALLY DONE!

Aluka, Tai, and Rose are all Corlesian. Tai and Aluka are from the same village – they’ve been friends since they were babies!

No tones on this one. Frankly, I’m pretty pinched for time and chapter 8 is going to be colored for the print version anyways, not toned.

For expediency sake, I might push out the remainder of Chapter 8 this way (tone-less) to get the story out instead of spending time toning when I’m just going to delete them anyways. XDDD Hope you all are enjoying the story, and thank you very much for bearing with my slow update schedule!

I’m heading out to location scout for the Kindling comic with Jason on Friday. We’re going to spend 3 days driving around and taking reference photos and getting inspiration for the series. It’s going to be great- I’m pretty excited about it! Kindling itself will begin posting in late April once I finish the character sheets. The first chapter has already been thumbnailed out! Pretty pumped about it!

I have several contributions to anthologies coming out this year – more info on those as they are released (4 so far).

Today, La Macchina Bellica is four years old! Thank you to everyone who has stayed with me these past few years! As many of you know, I’ve been currently inundated in projects the last few months. The prologue for Kindling aired a few weeks ago, and will be a continuing project in 2012 (a webcomic) to run concurrently with Macchina. Take a look if you haven’t already!

I’ve also been involved in Smut Peddler, an adult anthology created by women, orchestrated by the incredible Spike of Templar, AZ fame. It’s going to be an amazing anthology (other participants include Jess Fink, Erika Moen, and other really rad ladies!!). I’ve illustrated a 1950’s mad men style story written by Alice Hunt, the writer of Goodbye Chains.

2012 is lining up to be a fabulous year!! To all my fans and friends, Happy New Year!!! Regular updates of Macchina shall resume once I stop drowning in freelance comics.
