My computer is having a very hard time working this photoshop files. I upgraded to adobe CS5 and Windows 7, but my computer just doesn’t have the capacity, i think, for CS5. We’ve got to reimage my computer and probably downgrade me back to CS4.

I’m heading to Otakon this weekend (though I do not have an artist table), so the next update will be next week. Hopefully we can get things working smoothly again once I return and I can resume color updates, but if not, I am just going to have to go black and white for the forseeable future, until I can get myself a new computer.

At the very least, they will be all gorgeous color for the print version!

Chapter 6 (in the black and white) will be printed for Small Press Expo Sept 11-12 in Bethesda, MD, including some good Q&A I’ve had via comments here and on deviantart.

So, I spend 5 days coloring this double page spread- I’m close to done, and my computer starts to overheat, so I save the file and shut it off for a while.

Come back and my file has an unexpected end of file error and can’t be opened. I tried to recover it, everything, but no dice. My file is completely corrupted and I’ve lost all that work.

Needless to say I’m pretty frustrated and am pretty angry that I’m going to have to spend another 12 hours coloring.. so.. um.. here is the black and white. This page will be colored for the print version of the comic, but I am not doing it right now.

Brushes from various places. I’ve had them in a folder on my HD for years, I’m not sure exactly who did which brushes.. >_< Most of the brushes weren’t labeled.

Oh PS I removed the sandbags and fence in the bottom panels for artistic reasons (so you can see the characters/ what the characters are seeing)

STORY TIME WITH PERTH

(also, Perth and Aiden aren’t active soldiers, they’re kind of like the reserve. They just take border patrol jobs when their rotation comes up)

Corliss was once part of the Calanthian Empire. Though the Calanthians were by no means tyrants, the majority of the population of Corliss are of Feuerlandian descent (aka humans), and fought hard for their independence. There were riots and race violence and protests, until 50 years ago through extensive deliberations, the Queen released Corliss from the Empire and they became their own nation.

Though they remain a neutral territory, they lack the natural resources to retain their economic stability, so over the last few decades, their economy has collapsed and they have become more lawless and depraved. Corliss is considered one of the best places for soldiers to take their R&R considering the proliferation of prostitution and the drug trade.

There are honest merchants dealing in unique and interesting craft goods, though they are becoming fewer and far between, especially those willing to trade with Calanthia, thus such goods are hard to come by unless to visit the isle itself, and even them some merchants will refuse to sell to Calanthians.
